Who is Younited Media?

Younited Media is a music distributor that helps artists and labels get their music into YouTube Content ID.

Why did I receive a YouTube Content ID claim from Younited Media?

If you have received a Content ID claim from "Younited Media GmbH Music", this is most likely because you used content owned by one of our clients, and YouTube's automated system detected a match.

Don't worry: A Content ID claim does not negatively affect your channel! Read below for the difference between a claim and a strike.

No! Content ID claims are not dangerous for your channel, regardless of how many you receive. A Content ID claim only means that we will collect revenue on behalf of the artist or label that owns the music. You can ignore the claim, and it will not affect you or your channel in any way.

It's important to note that a Content ID claim is very different from a copyright strike. Copyright strikes can be damaging to your channel, but these are only issued by us if claims are disputed and appealed without a valid reason.

Why did I receive a claim for "free" music?

Some of the artists and labels we work for allow creators to use their music for free if they provide sufficient attribution (sometimes called "free to use music"). This means you are allowed to use the music for free, if you include correct credits to the artist in your video description.

If you received a claim from us, this means our team has double-checked you do not have a valid license to use the music, and/or did not display the required attribution. You can read below to learn how to get the claim released.

What can I do to get the Content ID claim released?

If you were using "free to use" music that may be used with attribution, you can simply add the required attribution to your video description (and make sure you follow the artist's / label's other requirements). You can find all details on the artist's / label's official YouTube channel or website.

After you have added the required attribution, email us at al-disputes@younited.media with your video links. We will review your request and, if applicable, release our claim within 2 - 5 business days.

You do not need to dispute the claim on YouTube – if you meet all requirements and email us, we will release the claim. The information you provide may be shared with the rights holder to verify your claim.

If you were using music that requires a paid license, you can reach out to the artist or label we placed the claim on behalf of. When you have acquired a license from them, they can immediately release the claim and prevent any future claims.
